Prob getting in my documents of other xp
hi guys,
i have had to build a new pc, all is cool, but i couldent get into my windows install, so i have installed another windows xp instance, however i can not get into the my documents folder of my damaged xp install, and it says permission denied. does anyone know how i can get access to all files on my drive, no matter what. thanx :-)

Try changing the security settings on the folder, give yourself full permissions.
If your data was encrypted, however, you will not be able to retrieve it, though.

hi i cant do that, what i have done is gone to tools --> folder options --> view ---> and turned of simple file sharing. this does bring up the security tab for all folders, but it wont for the old administrator documents folder.
