Problem of installing Visual Web Developer 2005 Edition
I really want to learn ASP.NET. After I found out that I need Visual Web Developer 2005 Edition, I download it and tried to install it but twice I receive this same error. I also tried to re-download it and install again but still got this same error mesg. What's wrong? Thanks.
The screen shot is in www.mystorey.com/error.gif Recently, I have stop some services for better performance. I'm using Window XP Pro. Could it be because of that? Thanks a lot in advance. |

--moved to the Windows OS forum, this definitely
got nothing to do with ASP as for the problem: it can be anything - stopping services in your machine might indeed be good reason for this error. what exactly did you stop? |

Have you made sure that you have the latest windows updates on your pc?
If the problem persists, you may want to look at windows defender to see if that helps any malware you may have.

Sorry for posting it in the wrong category. Thanks for the reply.
Yes. I have the latest window updates. And for the details, under error report contents, it says, The following files will be included in this error report: C:\DOCUME~1\cwngai\LOCALS~1\Temp\WLF68.tmp C:\DOCUME~1\cwngai\LOCALS~1\Temp\SDB69.tmp C:\WINDOWS\system32\BITS.LOG So, what does it means? I can't remember what services I have stopped but a know there are a few of them. |

I went to search and found 5 log files in my C:\Documents and Settings\cwngai\Local Settings\Temp\
I zip them up. The zip file is log.zip in www.mystorey.com/log.zip |

well, it's not very wise to stop services just like that
without understanding what you're doing. if you can somehow undo this then it's for the best. maybe your computer will be slower, but at least it would work. |

After I downloaded the iso file and burn into cd, I managed to install it at last. Now, I am starting my first hello world to test it out. Still trying to figure it out. Don't you tell me how, let me search about it myself first. :-)
When I use ASP last time, I just need a text editor, as simple as notepad. Now, seem like in VB world. But, I think I shall figure it out soon by reading some sample and articles. Anyway, thanks, Shadow Wizard and lewy. Last edited by ngaisteve1 : November 25th, 2006 at 04:51 AM. |

cheers for making it work, you'll indeed find that ASP.NET
is whole different world and Notepad can't help anymore. ![]() |
