Problem with admin login/new keyboard

Okay, I'm not really qualified to be in this forum, as my knowledge is limited. However, I have a real problem.

I recently moved and lost my keyboard. I purchased a new keyboard, but I cannot access my computer because XP will not recognize the keyboard. I am the admin on the computer, but I can't type my password in because the keyboard is not recognized.

I do have access to the guest account, but again, it won't allow authorize the new keyboard. Therefore the keyboard won't work. All I can do in Guest is move around with my mouse and access programs that are authorized. I am on a deadline and need some help. Please. The system software copies were with the original keyboard somewhere so I cannot restart from that.

Please help.

I would say that he merely waited for Windows to add the USB input device, if it was a USB keyboard versus a PS2 keyboard. I find that sometimes it can take a minute or two for USB devices to activate while waiting at the login.
