Removing Partial XP Set-UP

I have attempted to install a new version of XP on top of an existing version of XP. Well, the CD I had is apparently damaged, old, crappy, whatever. When I tried adding the new XP install a folder other than c:\windows, I get error messages saying that some files are not found (The file 'storprop.dll' on Windows driver cabinet is needed. So now I want to abort the new set-up. The problem is that when I reboot now, the machine is looking to set-up XP every time. I can't log onto Windows at all now. I just want this set-up removed completley! I tried using Bart PE to see the boot.ini but it looks fine:

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOW S
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professsional" /fastdetect

What I want to do is get this machine back to the way it was before this failed installation so I can send it back to the manufacturer.

Welcome to the forums

You can change the way your computer loads up by modifying the BIOS
Every computer is different for entering to the BIOS so I couldn't tell you how.

Just watch your pc boot up you'll see it for about 1 second, it'll will say
F2 for Advanced Settings others will ask for F11
It only works when you see it, so press it only when you see it.
If you did it correctly, the BIOS setup will show up.
You'd be looking for a menu option called Bootup

Here you can specify the boot up order, Select 1) CD 2) HD

Thanks for the welcome!

Thanks Lewy but I have the machine booting off the HD. Even with the machine booting from the HD, it still goes directly to set-up. The HD thinks I want to continue with the set-up.

I hope I am explaining this correctly.

In order to reinstall windows Xp, you have to make your CD the first option when booting up.
Most late model computers recognize a windows set up CD and will try to boot up from
there.

Give that a try and let me know
