Well, this might work... Try to see if you have a folder named $win$ in your primary partition ... and if u have one... DELETE IT! if not, try searching for a boot manager that deletes boot entrys! try searching for one on google

Remove it's entry in C:\boot.ini

You may optionally remove the temporary folders as well, but it's not required.

Ya know, I have the same problem as this original post states but my entry for the temp set-up is NOT in my boot.ini The only thing in my boot.ini is the original XP install.

Are there any gurus who can help out? I am in a real jam!

This means that setup files were not removed from your Windows installation. Is everything setup properly or did the setup not complete at all?

The set up never completed... I cancelled it mid-way through. There is an existing copy in C:\windows already but I wanted to put another copy in a new C: directory b/c the one loaded on c:\windows is messed up... I just want to get back to that 'messed up' XP install so I can send this laptop back.
