ouch ![]() Micky, out of curiousity, why do you only have version 1 of .Net framework installed? Have you tried simply re-installing your sound card driver?

Micky, a couple of sillier suggestions since I am out of other ideas.
If this is not an onboard sound card, have you disabled any onboard soundcard tried putting it in a different slot checked to see what the processor is doing when sound stops? |

I know it's a long shot, but you could always try re-installing WinAmp and Media Player

given the fact that it's happening in both Win Amp and Media player leads me to believe that it is indeed a driver issue (if it were hardware, the sound would not work at all, unless, perhaps, it's a chipset overheating issue) The AC '97 sound cards used to be tempormental about their drivers (in fact some motherboard driver cd's installed the wrong drivers!!) You may try rolling back the drivers to the Windows included drivers (if supported by Windows) to do this, right click on my computer, go to properties, click on the hardware tab, click device manager, go to your sound card, go to its properties, click on the driver tab, and then "roll back driver" button.
