Terminal Services question--getting a local USB device to work
We are looking at implementing a system over Terminal Services that would allow to track our employees time and payroll, but it uses a usb fingerprint scanner.
Here's the setup: we have a single server with a peice of software (normally designed to work only at the local level), but we want to allow people to log into terminal server, clock in, have their fingerprint scanned by the local pc, and then be done.
The question is can we do that? Can terminal server see a device connected to the remote pc that is logging in. I know that we have printers set up in a similar situation, but I don't know if this would work (or if it would be too complicated).
We would have 13 locations logging into the same terminal server, and this might be an issue (but I really don't know).
If anyone has any ideas if this is a) possible, and b) feasible, I would really love to hear about this and how one goes about setting it up.
Thanks in advance.
