The advantages of Win2003 Server???
My company has got me in charge of the possible upgrade from Win2000 Server using IIS 5.0 to Win2003 Server using IIS6.0.... can someone help me with the advantages of using Win2003 and its components? I am not a system administrator by no means but have been given this role on this project. If we do upgrade, what precautions should I take with the current system? Would it affect current systems and its applications? If so, please caution me.
Thanks again... |

The primary advantage is that's it's the latest OS. That means newer code. Windows Server 2003 runs faster. There are also some new features.
You can find a pretty good comparison here. As far as upgrade precautions, just the standard rule of thumb: Always backup data before installing any new software. Windows 2000 is in the upgrade path for Windows Server 2003, so it should be a relatively painless upgrade. |
