Smile Unable to access secondary screens

Hello:

I am writing about my daughters PC. It is a SONY VAIO.
She is unable to sign on to her college or email screens. Or an other screen that requires a password. She gets the signon screen and fills in the signon information. Once she hits enter, she gets a not found screen. This problem just started.

I am attaching a Hjackthis log for you to view.

Thank you.

hi there,

i am no guru at this but it seems ok to me, do wait for a second opinion tho!

Whilst you are waiting can i suggest that you try running

Spybot Search and Destroy and removing what it finds.

also has your daughter installed anything else on the machine recently? maybe a more enchanced firewall or virus scanner? this could be blocking the pages.

hope that helps.

RF

However you are using an old version of hijackthis. The latest version is v1.99.1.
you should get the latest version and post that log as an attachment.

Other than that i did not se anything of real concern. i would suggest you download Adaware and Spybot S& D and run them both. You already have an excellent package in NOD32 and very little gets past that.

You should also consider the Antivirus forum on ASPfree's sister site Devshed
Antivirus Forum. There are users there who are better capable of helping you with Hijackthis logfiles.

Hi:

I have run SPYBOT, AD-Aware & Stinger to try and correct the problems. Nothing helped. There were over 1000 run once programs that she had loaded. I used Hijackthis to remove those. The report you saw was the final version after all the above had been tried.

Thanks.

those thousand programs which appeared in the Hijackthis log are not her fault so you should not be so hard on her .. they are the side effect of several types of infections.. and created there on their own..
you really should post untounched logs.. although its your pc and your free to do as you wish. It just helps understanding the infection better if the log has not been changed.

You also should run hijackthis unzipped and its own folder so that the backup of the entires you attemp to fix are available if required in the case of an erroneous fix.

without knowing the nature of the entires you fixed it becomes difficult to find the source of the infection.

i would suggest you try Panda's online scan or Trendmicro's online scan (linked below).
http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

also get hold of Ewido security suite or Trojan Hunter. both have free fully functional trials which are very effective. run ither one and see what turns up.

i would post links but google should help you find the links fast enough
