USB device issues
I am haveing a slight problem with my USB devices on my computer. I reformatted it and now it says "the usb device can perform faster if you connect it to a high speed usb 2.0 port" when I turn on my DVD external drive. After looking at the list of ports I could use, It says the same thing for all of them but I am running USB 2.0. How do I correct this issue? I have tried updating the drivers for the devices via device manager but it does not correct this issue?
Thanks in advance: Filterfann |

It means your USB ports are USB1.0 or USB1.1 and not USB2.0
Evidently, you don't have a USB2.0 port on your computer even though you think you are. |

no, gotta be USB 2.0. It's a Dell Inspiron 8600 notebook. Its only 2 years old and this problem occurred after a reformat. Before the reformat, the DVD/R could write to CDs at a speed of 40x and now it only writes them at 4x so there is something wrong. I was told on other forums to look on websites to find newer drivers for the USB controllers.

fixed
Yep, I was right, I went to Dell's site and downloaded a driver restore tool. This allowed my usb 2.0 port to function at its max speed. My DVD drive can now write at 40x.
thanks anyway Filterfann |
