Using Outlook without Exchange in Small Business Server
I have Small Business Server 2003 running our network and recently
added a laptop running Windows 2000. The user has Outlook 2003 already installed on the system and wants to be able to use that instead of Exchange but when he logs into the domain, we are not allowed to run the local Outlook account. He is forced to log in his laptop with his local account to use Outlook. Is it possible to run a standard Outlook profile when logged into the SBS domain? I cannot figure out how to disable his account from forcing the Exchange connection when he starts Outlook. |

Delete Default Profile
I just had a very similiar problem with Outlook 2003 and Small Business Server, this might help fix your issue.
I log into a domain, but my domain does not have an exchange server, but Outlook kept asking for the domain server. What I finally had to do was on the Outlook shortcut, select properties, delete the default mail server profile(s) and create a new pop 3 account (if that is the type of account you are setting up.)
