VPN Hell!

Hi... Building my first VPN tunnel. It's not going well!

My LAN involves an ADSL line running to a switch. One port off the switch goes to a desktop. The other port goes to a router. Then to a series of computers (including the other desktop I want to VPN with). I have temporarily turned off both firewalls, and set my portforwarding on the router (on port 500) to my local IP.

Then I went through the vpn wizard. When I clicik on the connection... enter the IP address (<--- I assume you don't need a folder specified or anything)... it gives me "Error 800: unable to establish the VPN connection.

Am I missing any obvious steps?? (It should be noted that I can remote desktop between the two without a problem.)

Thanks for the help.. I really appreciate it.

Ryan

Follow up

I should follow up:

I have tried to make the connection with the router removed. Just a switch to two computers. I still got errors. So that should remove the router or port forwarding as the problem.

So what could I do wrong in the wizard? address = xx.xxx.xxx.xxx format with no http: or ort suffix.
Do I need to enable the VPN from the recieving side??

I'm so confused.
Thanks again for any help
Ryan
