Cool Windows Changed the Sort Order

I had downloaded 75 or so pictures (.jpg format) from my camera to a folder on my PC. These pictures were then sorted for a slide show--using the XP features. This ran well. I then decided to burn them to a CD so they could be shown at a different location. When I opened the CD after burning, the files (pictures) were re-sorted to alpha order by Windows. I tried this several times trying to re-order the pictures. How can I keep this order (not alpha, not size, not date sequence, but apparantly random). I am lost. Any help would be great.

Alan

Can't the slideshow software you are using randomly sort through the pictures for you? You shouldn't have to store the files in any particular order for that.

Just using the XP slide show offer. Not using any particular software. XP runs the pictures in the order that they are sorted. Haven't had an issue in the past. Don't seem to remember any change of settings that would prompt XP to do this.

Thanks.

That was my first thoughts also. Tried it and it didn't hold. Ended up putting each picture into a PPT file and ran a slide show from their. Thanks for all the input. I think I will invest in a slide show program to make life easy. Sort order usually doesn't make a difference to me.

as far as I know, Windows does not store the sort order of portable devices
(DVD, CD, USB etc..)
it's feature, not bug and in my opinion this is correct feature.
