windows OS license

hi all....

my company has a lot of windows license (XP, 98, 2000)...but they never do the exact way to keep it...now i in charge to do a complete list of the license...but i dont know which CD (which license) is belong to which computer...

so how can i know the license for the particular computer....can we check from any where to get back the product key?

p/s: the same thing happen on office license...how can i know the product key....after i install it...

If you've got time, you could just get a testing computer and start the install process for XP, 98 then 2000. Just try each key you've got until you find the ones which work.

Visit this site. Download the keyfinder and run on your machines to view the product key for each license.

This software will retreive all profile, installed software, updated patches, product key... Hope it will help.

Belarc is a great program, but to install it on a large network and use it legally you must purchase a license, which is extremely expensive....OUCH!

A free alternative is Aida32. Its developers have discontinued the product but it can still be downloaded at

Keyfinder is also a noteworthy product but it would be a lot more work than Aida32; plus Aida will give you a host of additional information on each workstation. I have found it very useful as an inventory tool for networks that my company manages.
