Windows Scripting Forum?
Would anyone be interested in adding a Windows Scripting forum to handle all scripting related (Jscript, VBScript, WSH, WMI, PowerShell, etc.) questions?
I'm going to be publishing a series of articles on ASP Free that teach and demonstrate the use of WSH (Windows Script Host). The content spans from beginners to experts and will be generating discussion. I'm going to be linking to the forums here in each article. I feel this topic is too broad, and the problems are too specific to place in any of the existing forums. We already have several threads in the Windows OS forum that can be moved to start a Windows Scripting forum. What do you guys think? Would it benefit the forums? Do you believe there would be enough content to justify adding another forum? I'd like to hear your suggestions and feedback. If there is enough support, I'll approach the other admins about adding one.

I think if you get some more users/mods to approve then we should do it. Problem a lot of times is we add a forum that makes sense and then it doesnt get used and adds to the clutter of the home page of the forums. j |

There are several threads already that can be moved into the new forum to start it off. I'm hoping that the added Google presence and the series of article going up on the ASP Free main site will also generate some interest. If you google "wsh help forum", you'll notice ASP Free takes both the number 1 and 2 spots. |

I think such a forum would create confusion with the already existing browser scripting forum, as well as the fact that asp also uses scripting languages.
I don't remember seeing that many wsh-type questions, and what I've seen were usually found in the VB forum since most wsh is done in vbscript.

it's good idea to have it, but as Doug said many newbies might
get confused.. so just put moderator(s) on the new forum that will move such threads to their proper location and I believe that all will be good. ![]() |
