XP Pro to XP Home
Hi
Is it possible to go back to XP Home from XP Pro without reformatting. ViRi |

I don't know, it's a highly unusual move. My guess is you'll have problems.

Thanks Doug I thought so too The problem is I mistakenly upgraded the wrong PC from Home to Pro because I needed to use it with a secure VPN. Having upgraded I did not loose any of the PC's settings. So now I have a PC with all the correct settings but with the wrong Windows XP version. This why I need to roll back ViRi |

I guess you can always give it a try, but have a good complete backup first. Besides some of the XP Pro only programs like IIS, there are also differences in the file security model that I'd expect to give problems after a "downgrade".
XP has a wizard that supposedly transfers settings but I've never used it. |

Is it impossible? No.
Would I recommend it? No. Since the two use different kernel versions, I would recommend formatting rather than performing an overlay install. You're bound to end up with glitches.
