Run NewSID across domain
Hi all,
I'm somwhat of a newbie and taking on more of our network responsibilities. I have stumbled across a problem. We were experiencing some problems with machines contacting the WSUS server (part of DC - server 2003). I found out that there are many, many redundant SIDs resulting from cloned PCs using ghost. I can force each PC to contact WSUS by deleting AU registry keys, resetting the security descriptor, and restarting the wuau service. However, this is quite cumbersome as we have several hundred PCs in the domain.
What I would like to do is run NewSID on all PCs in the domain through a script or GP. *Then* reset the security descriptor - which I can do via logon script. The problem is - I don't think I can run NewSID via a script b/c it needs admin priveleges. I don't have much scripting experience but am learning as much as I can. Does anyone have any suggestions or something perhaps I'm missing? Thanks in advance.
