If you have a virus then AVG should quarantine or repair it. If not then you can do an online scan or try deleting the file using a program such as killbor or MoveOnBoot. I would recommend that you have your system checked out. Goto http://www.cybertechhelp.com/forums...isplay.php?f=25 Read through the stickies and post a log

If you indeed have desktop_.ini and aren't referring to the Windows file desktop.ini, follow this link for removal instructions:
http://www.symantec.com/security_re...0134-99&tabid=3 Click on the Technical Details and Summary tabs to learn more about it. As degsy mentioned, perform a scan. AVG is a very reputable program and should be able to help you.

If you changed settings in windows explorer to show hidden and system files, the normally hidden desktop.ini file will be visible.

No, you don't install Symantec.Com. I was simply giving you this page as a reference so you can learn more about the virus. Like I said, click on the Technical Details tab and the Summary tab to learn more about it. On the Removal tab at the bottom of the screen are some instructions to remove the registry entry that was inserted by the worm. Use whatever antivirus you have, (I'd go with the one degsy suggested), make sure it is up-to-date, and run a complete scan on your system. Last edited by jmurrayhead : June 8th, 2007 at 11:21 AM.
