Name servers
Hi,
I purchase a domain outside my hosting server. How do I change the name servers for my domain? They give me this; Primary Name Server: ns1.hostingserver.com Secondary Name Server: ns2.hostingserver.com |

If the company you purchased the domain through have a Control Panel then you should be able to change the name servers in this.
Failing that, you will need to contact them and tell them the name servers the domain needs to be pointed to. Another option is to transfer the domain name to the company you're hosting with, although if you wanted to do this, I guess you would have just bought it through them in the first place. ![]()

No. If you transfer the domain, then your hosting company will take over administering the domain. If you point to the name servers of the host, the company you purchased the domain from retains the administration of the domain. Hope that helps. |

If you are happy with your current domain registrar, there is no reason to transfer your domain to the host.
In order to update the name server, check out your domain registrar's help docs or ask them. Most domain registrars will provide a web interface so that you can manage your name servers yourself. |
