Windows Web Hosting?

I am quite confused about this, I saw this section n thought . . well, i was using my mac till it broke down completely at a cost of $700 to fix.
I have a website which is hosted somewhere in the states, but I did not know one had a windows hosting service. Can someone explain it to us all. I am sure I am not the only one.

I've got to be honest with you here. I have no clue what you're asking. Are you asking for a description of Windows-based web hosting?

This is just a server based on the Windows platform as opposed to Unix or Linux.

I'm equally confused by the question but perhaps the poster is confused about the difference between their computer and the hosting providers webservers(?)

You can develop your site on any hardward you wish - PC or mac...etc. Then you would transfer your website files to a hosting providers webservers. The hosting provider's webservers could be windows-based or unix-based...etc...

Depending on the technology you want to use to drive your website you should choose to host on a particular hosting system. For example, if you are developing your website in ASP or ASP.NET, you would choose a Windows host. If your site is programmed in PHP, then you should choose a unix host.

I hope that this is close to what you were asking....

Windows Web Hosting refers to the internet hosting provider storing the websites on a windows machine. The hosting platform is usually only important if you use Microsft specific technologies (such as ASP and .Net, as previously mentioned). It does not matter what your personal computer is.
